Summary: Over the past several decades, the demographic landscape of Canada has greatly transformed into an ethnically diverse population. Almost one of every five Canadians is an immigrant, with 36% of immigrants (390,800) representing immigrant and refugee children and youth 24 years of age or under (Statistics Canada, 2006). Although the cultural patterns of Canada have changed over the years, there remains a paucity of research on how newcomer youth adjust and settle into their new homeland.
