Inuuvunga [videorecording] : I am Inuk, I am alive / a film by Bobby Echalook ... [et al.] ;
Through an initiative of the National Film Board, and with the guidance of filmmakers Daniel Gross and Mila Aung-Thwin, eight teens have been selected to document their final year of high school in the remote town of Inukjuak in northern Quebec. The film addresses a broad range of issues, from the communication gap with their elders, to the loss of their peers to suicide, and reveals an unusual mix of traditional and modern cultures, as it paints a portrait of coming of age in an Inuit town, characterized by the isolation but also the friendliness of Northern communities.
